Troubleshooting
Fixes for the problems people actually run into.
The app won’t open
The current builds aren’t code-signed yet.
-
macOS — “unidentified developer”: right-click SQDM in Applications, choose Open, then Open again. If it still refuses:
xattr -cr /Applications/SQDM.app -
Windows — “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info, then Run anyway.
Compare the file’s SHA-256 with the one on the Download page if you want to be sure it’s ours.
A download fails with “Not enough disk space”
SQDM checks free space before starting and keeps 200 MB spare. Free some space, then press Resume — it continues from where it stopped.
The browser still downloads files itself
- Is SQDM running? The extension hands files back when it can’t reach it.
- Is the file type in the extension’s list? Open its popup to check.
- Is the download folder writable? A read-only drive (for example an NTFS disk on a Mac) is refused, and the popup says so.
“Show in Folder” or delete doesn’t do anything on Windows
Fixed in 0.1.0. If a file is open in another program (a player, a preview, a virus scan), SQDM says so and keeps the download in the list — close the program and delete again.
A server gets slower with more connections
Some servers limit connections per visitor and answer “429 Too Many Requests”. SQDM reduces connections by itself and remembers the limit for that site. You can set a fixed number per site in Preferences → Site profiles (under Advanced).
A link downloads a web page instead of the file
The link probably points to a download page, or it expired. SQDM warns when the server returns a web page and never saves it as the file. Copy the link again from the site, or let the browser extension hand it over.
Where are the logs?
Help → Open Logs, or ~/.mydm/logs (macOS) / %USERPROFILE%\.mydm\logs (Windows).
