Pairing browsers and devices
How the 6-digit pairing code works, opening SQDM from another device, and revoking access.
SQDM’s engine only accepts browsers, extensions and devices you’ve approved. Approving one takes a 6-digit code.
How it works
- The browser, extension or device asks SQDM for a code.
- SQDM shows the code on the computer it runs on — in a small window and as a notification.
- You type the code where it was asked for. It’s valid for 2 minutes; after 5 wrong tries a new code is needed.
The browser SQDM opens for you after install is paired automatically — no code needed there.
Open SQDM from a phone or another computer
- On the computer running SQDM, turn on Preferences → General → Open SQDM from other devices on this network.
- On the other device, open the address SQDM shows, for example
http://192.168.1.20:9614. - Enter the pairing code.
Downloads started this way still run on — and save to — the computer running SQDM. To download onto the other computer, install SQDM there and open http://127.0.0.1:9614 on it.
See and revoke access
Preferences → Paired devices lists every paired browser, extension and device, with when it was last used. Revoke cuts it off immediately.
