Torrents

Turn on torrents, add magnet links and .torrent files, pick files and set seeding limits.

Torrents are off until you turn them on. The first time, SQDM shows a short notice: only download and share content you have the right to. Seeding shares data publicly, and your IP address is visible to other peers.

Add a torrent

  • Add Torrent on the toolbar (⌘⇧N / Ctrl+Shift+N): paste a magnet link, choose a .torrent file, or drop one on the window.
  • SQDM fetches the file list first (“Fetching metadata…”) and shows it with checkboxes, sizes and the free space on your disk.

Choose files

Untick files you don’t want — before starting or later, in the details pane’s Files tab.

Seeding

Preferences → Torrent:

  • Stop seeding at a ratio (default 1.0) or after a time.
  • Stop seeding as soon as the download is complete.
  • Maximum torrents seeding at once.

Network

  • Listen port, or a random port. UPnP / NAT-PMP (off by default). DHT, PEX and local peer discovery switches.
  • Allowed networks: torrents pause by themselves on any other network.
  • Kill switch: turns torrents off everywhere at once.

Speed limits apply to all torrents together; per-torrent limits aren’t supported by the torrent library SQDM uses. Torrents never use network bonding.
